| I spent most of my young adult life in Hollywood, immersed in the exciting and slightly (sometimes more than slightly) decadent rock and roll world. While living mere steps from the famous corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine, I was also surrounded by remnants of the most glamorous era in history, "The Golden Years" from 1927 when the first talking movies appeared, to the late 1940s. I walked in the footsteps of the kings and queens of the silver screen. Believe me, when you're all alone in a 1920s building, and if you're very quiet, you can feel the spirits there. I also worked in the infamous Starwood nightclub...but those may be stories for another place and time. Then I had the great pleasure of living in New Orleans and enjoying the heady floral fragrance and heavenly colors of the Garden District. New Orleans is another special place to walk silently among the ghosts of an elegant history - or enjoy the too much of everything atmosphere of the French Quarter. |
